Bury Council intend to invest £75,000 in converting two thirds of Bury’s library into a sculpture centre. This is a proposal that was not on the table in the public consultation earlier this year according to a recent Bury Times article.
Clearly, this is a ridiculous waste of money from our Labour council and when the anger from the public is taken into consideration this proposal should be scrapped at the earliest opportunity.
Having a sculpture centre in Bury could attract visitors and investment to Bury, I don’t dispute that. But when it comes at the cost of two thirds of our library that cannot be allowed to happen.
The campaign against this is going strong and @SaveBuryLibrary have a petition on Change.org. Signatures are also being collected at the library and they intend to hand in the petition to Bury Council on Wednesday 11th December.
Please give them as much support as possible to stop Labour causing detrimental harm to our library services.
